Our Story

The journey that led to the founding of Good Forests Foundation Uganda.

About Us

Good Forests Foundation Uganda (GFU) is a non-profit organization that builds on the legacy of Fairventures Worldwide (FVW), which was founded in Stuttgart in 2013 with the vision, “Good Forests are Climate Solutions.” Today, GFU continues FVW’s vision in Uganda, empowering farmers through reforestation and responsible value chains and operating in the following areas: Hoima, Kikuube, Kyenjojo, Fortportal, Kasese, Rukungiri, Ntungamo, Wakiso, Luweero, Kayunga, Tororo, Apac, Lira, Busia, Mbale, Kapchorwa, and Buyende district.

Uganda faces the pressing challenge of a rapidly growing young population, where the rising demand for fuelwood, timber, and farmland continues to intensify deforestation, putting immense pressure on the country’s forests.

On 1st August 2025, we officially transitioned from FVW to GFU. This evolution allowed us to deepen our focus on community-led reforestation, agroforestry innovations, and climate resilience strategies tailored to Uganda’s unique challenges and potentials. Today, GFU is dedicated to creating thriving forests, resilient communities, and a sustainable future for generations to come
